San Juan Public Health makes donation to Blue Mountain Hospital

In an effort to strengthen the partnership between San Juan Public Health and Blue Mountain Hospital, and to help increase the breastfeeding rates in San Juan County, the Public Health WIC Department recently donated an electric breast pump to BMH’s OB Department. Blue Mountain Hospital has never had an electric breast pump available for OB moms. This will help if a baby or mom needs to be flown out or if they are having some medical problem and are not able to breastfeed right away.

Public health RN Katie Knight held a training for the BMH nursing staff April 25th. Knight said the Public Health Department was also able to donate an electronic breast pump to San Juan Hospital in Monticello. San Juan Hospital did not have an electric breast pump either, she said.

Blue Mountain Hospital is grateful to San Juan Public Health for this valuable donation.
