Maintenance Technician
This is a full-time position, entailing four rotating 10-hour workdays. Additionally, the role requires participation in rotating on-call shifts during nights and weekends.
Responsibilities and Duties:
This position will carry out the following responsibilities:

Receives written and/or electronic Maintenance work orders or verbal instruction from supervisor; Technician will recommend work plans and parts, if needed.

Work performed in all aspects of the Hospital in general carpentry, general electrical, general plumbing, general sewer, mechanical, electronic, etc.

Communicates with supervisor, administration, and/or general staff on work to be performed.

Assist Facilities Manager with BMH safety and security measures;

Assist with snow and/or ice removal when necessary;

Assist with the moving of equipment and/or furniture as requested by work orders or verbal instruction by supervisor or clinical staff;

Assist with receiving and/or delivery of large items off delivery trucks.

Perform routine preventative maintenance of Hospital vehicles when required and recommend any major repair and/or replacement of parts;

Ensures and readies proper packing and segregation of Bio-Hazardous Materials and/or Sharps for disposal; Maintain Bio-Hazardous logs.

Familiarity with, maintain inventory and clean all tools (hand, electric, cordless, etc.) and equipment after each use, and reports and/or recommends need for repairs or replacement, including stolen or lost items to supervisor;

Ensures and performs routine maintenance on all heating and air conditioning systems within normal parameters and notifies supervisor for additional service and/or repair, if needed; maintains logs of all routine maintenance and/or repairs.

Ensure all fixtures in clinical and administrative work areas are in working order; light switches, faucets, commodes, vents, etc., and to repair and/or replace parts, if needed;

Assists with other assignments outside of regular assigned duties, when deemed appropriate and necessary to achieve the objectives and goals of BMH.
Education/Experience
Preferred education and experience includes but is not limited to:

Experience in general construction
-
Experience in basic electrical systems
-
Experience in HVAC systems
-
Prior maintenance experience

Able to work independently of others with minimal supervision

Bio-med experience (troubleshooting and or repair)

Willingness to attend instructional and educational training

Computer skills and knowledge of GOOGLE drive are required

Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively

Ability to operate heavy machinery

Must have a current drivers license

Must pass a background check
Physical demands
The Maintenance Technician over a 10-hour workday will require varying degrees of sitting, standing, and walking. Physical requirements include bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching above shoulder level, crouching, kneeling, balancing, pushing, and pulling, with specified frequencies ranging from "not at all" to "continuously." The position also involves carrying and lifting items across a range of weights, from under 10 lbs to over 100 lbs, with varying frequencies.
Work environment
The role may involve but is not limited to being around moving machinery, exposure to temperature and humidity changes, driving, and exposure to dust, fumes, gases, cleaning chemicals, contagious organisms, bloodborne pathogens, and bio-hazardous waste.
