Maintenance Technician
Position Type: Full-Time, Four (4) rotating 10-hour workdays with rotating on-call shifts (nights and weekends).
Responsibilities and Duties
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance services to support hospital operations, facility safety, and staff needs. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Receive and complete written, electronic, or verbal maintenance work orders; recommend work plans and parts as needed.

Perform general maintenance, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, sewer, mechanical, and electronic repairs throughout the hospital.

Communicate effectively with supervisors, administration, and staff regarding work status and priorities.

Support the Facilities Manager with BMH safety and security measures.

Assist with snow and ice removal when necessary.

Move equipment and/or furniture as requested by work orders or clinical staff.

Assist with receiving and delivering large items from delivery trucks.

Perform routine preventative maintenance of hospital vehicles; recommend repairs or part replacements.

Safely pack and segregate bio-hazardous materials and sharps for disposal; maintain bio-hazardous logs.

Maintain inventory and cleanliness of tools (hand, electric, cordless, etc.); report or recommend repairs/replacements of damaged, lost, or stolen items.

Perform routine maintenance on heating and air conditioning systems; maintain logs of service and repairs and notify supervisor when additional service is required.

Ensure fixtures in all clinical and administrative areas (switches, faucets, commodes, vents, etc.) are in working order; repair or replace parts as necessary.

Assist with other facility-related assignments as deemed necessary to support hospital operations and goals.

Participate in emergency preparedness drills and activities.
Education and Experience (Preferred)

1-2 years of experience in general construction and maintenance.

Knowledge of basic electrical and plumbing systems.

Experience with HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting.

Bio-medical equipment troubleshooting and/or repair experience preferred.

1-2 years of prior maintenance experience in healthcare or related setting.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Computer skills, including Google Drive, required.

Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively.

Experience operating heavy machinery.

Current driver’s license required.

Must pass a background check.

Willingness to attend instructional and educational training as assigned.
Physical Demands
This position requires varying levels of sitting, standing, and walking during a 10-hour workday. Duties may involve bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching above shoulder level, crouching, kneeling, balancing, pushing, and pulling. Lifting and carrying may range from under 10 lbs. to over 100 lbs., with frequencies from “rarely” to “continuously.”
