About Kade

Dr. Kade Shumway Lyman was born and raised in Blanding, UT and we are excited to welcome him home to Blue Mountain Hospital. Dr. Lyman pursued a career in orthopedic surgery with the goal of establishing a practice in San Juan County that is second to none and chose training programs specifically tailored to achieving that end. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Brigham Young University, where he graduated with honors, and moved on to the University of Utah School of Medicine for his M.D. program. After graduating, Dr. Kade Lyman was an orthopedic surgery resident at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. He then completed his Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Taos Orthopedic Institute. Through their well-known program, he was able to perfect his craft at sports related surgeries including minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery and joint replacements. To further add to his resume and expertise, Dr. Lyman was the team physician for the men's and women's Downhill World Cup Finals in Courcheval, France in 2022 and worked closely with the US Ski and Snowboard teams.

Throughout his education and experience, Dr. Kade Lyman has become an incredibly talented and proficient sports medicine trained Orthopedic Surgeon. His patients have ranged from professional athletes to local high school football players to local community members. He is available to serve the community by performing procedures involving sports medicine, trauma, and joint replacements on the shoulder, knee and hip (using the anterior hip replacement method), along with many other orthopedic needs.

Dr. Kade Lyman lives in Blanding with his wife and children. They enjoy cycling, skiing, hiking, and taking in all that San Juan County has to offer.
