Infection Prevention & Employee Health Specialist Part-Time

Blue Mountain Hospital is seeking a dedicated and proactive Part-Time Infection Prevention & Employee Health Specialist to join our team. In this hands-on role, you will be crucial in ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our patients and staff by assisting with our infection control plan and employee health program. This position reports directly to the Chief Quality Officer.


Key Responsibilities

  • Infection Control: Assist in the implementation and monitoring of our hospital's infection control plan. This includes conducting ongoing surveillance activities, such as hand hygiene and surgical site infection (SSI) tracking.

  • Training & Education: Develop and deliver educational programs for staff on infection prevention best practices, including proper hand hygiene and PPE use.

  • Employee Health Support: Assist with our employee health program, including new hire screenings, annual health assessments, and immunizations. Assist with the Respiratory Protection Program, including fit testing.

  • Exposure Management: Respond to employee exposures to bloodborne pathogens and other infectious agents, ensuring proper follow-up and confidential record-keeping.

  • Committee Coordination: Coordinate and prepare for monthly Infection Control Committee meetings, including the annual Infection Control Risk Assessment and plan.

  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives to support the Quality Department.


Qualifications

Required:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent

  • 1-2 years in a healthcare setting

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proven ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred:

  • MA, CNA, LPN or other healthcare related certification.

  • A strong foundation in infection prevention principles and practices.

  • A solid understanding of employee health and safety regulations.

  • Experience with infection control software or electronic health records (EHR).

  • Occupational health or employee health experience.
