We live in an age of continually evolving technology, much of which is designed to save the average individual time and effort in maneuvering through day-to-day activities.
One of those day-to-day activities, that can sometimes cause frustration and inconvenience, is dealing with medical providers and the angst involved with scheduling appointments, scheduling medication refills, learning the results of medical and laboratory tests and just talking with your medical provider. If you have ever felt this way, and dread having to go through this process again, Utah Navajo Health System might just have a remedy for you.
In 2013 UNHS launched its Patient Portal Internet program in an effort to give patients easier access to the process of making medical appointments, scheduling various types of medication refills, communicating with providers and viewing their personal medical records and lab results. Many who have taken advantage of this program find it easy and convenient. It helps them avoid time on the telephone scheduling appointments, waiting to hear about lab results or to speak with providers. It also allows them easier access to their personal medical records, copies of which are available online, should a patient need them for a visit to another doctor in a different area. The Patient Portal also allows UNHS staff to remind patients about upcoming appointments and respond to questions. It has made life easier for many who have signed up for the program.
However, many UNHS patients still haven't taken advantage of this free online service. To help patients become part of the Patient Portal program, UNHS is offering Patient Portal Signup Week, October 20 through October 24 at the UNHS Blanding Family Practice Community Health Center. Patients who wish to join the Patient Portal program can visit the Blanding Family Clinic, during regular business hours, October 20 through October 24, and get help in setting up a patient portal account for yourself and your children. The process is simple and doesn't take much time, but it will allow you to access the Patient Portal from anywhere there is access to the Internet. Patient Portal access can be accomplished with a Smart Phone, Tablet, Laptop or Desktop computer. To start your patient portal account you must have an Email Address.
It is also possible to create your own Patient Portal account, online from home, by following these simple steps:
1. Go to: https://unhs.InteliChart.com/PatientPortal/
2. Click on: "Create an Account" Tab; enter your PIN, and last name to identify yourself.
3. Provide current Email Address, password and secret question answers. Click: Register to complete the process.
Once you've registered you will receive a verification email and your Patient Portal account is established.
Also: You can receive your PIN from the front desk of any UNHS Clinic or have it sent to your Cell Phone. The front desk can also validate and launch your Patient Portal account.
Parents can create Patient Portal accounts for their children by following these steps:
1. Go to: https://unhs.InteliChart.com/PatientPortal
2. Click on: "Create an Account" Tab
3. Click 'Yes' for PIN registration
4. Enter your PIN, and last name to identify yourself.
5. This message will appear: "Because you are registering this account for a minor you will also need an account, even if you are not a patient here." (The parent will complete the information AS IT PERTAINS TO THE PARENT, NOT THE PATIENT)
6. Complete the registration process. If this patient account is new, you will receive a verification email. Click the link in the email to activate your child's portal account.
Patient Portal is a simple, convenient way to access a number of medical services via a safe, secure, 24-hour per day Internet connection from the comfort of your own home. To sign up for the Patient Portal, come to the UNHS Blanding Family Clinic, during business hours October 20 through October 24. You may also register online, at home. Remember, you must have an email account to join the Patient Portal. If you have questions about the Patient Portal, call 678-3601 and ask to speak with a Patient Portal consultant. We hope you will join us and let the Patient Portal help make your healthcare experience simpler and more convenient
