Matthew Lyman, DO

About Matthew

Dr. Matthew Lyman grew up in Salt Lake City. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Russian Language and Literature from the University of Utah and then attended A.T. Still University of Health Sciences in Kirksville Missouri where he graduated in 2003. He served an internship in Fort Worth Texas from 2003-2004. He then completed an orthopedic surgery residency near Detroit, Michigan from 2004-2008. He went on to complete an extra year of training (aka fellowship) in total joint replacement in St. Louis, Missouri in 2008-2009. Dr.  Lyman received writing awards during his residency and has been in practice since 2009.

Prior to relocating to San Juan County, Dr. Lyman practiced in Davis County, Utah. He moved to San Juan County and joined the Blue Mountain Hospital staff in 2018. Although he received specialized training in joint replacement, he performs a wide variety of general orthopedic procedures. For surgeries that need to be done at larger facilities, Dr. Lyman helps patients coordinate subspecialty care.

Although Dr. Lyman grew up in Salt Lake City, his father, Gary Lyman, is a native of Blanding. His grandparents are the late Lynn and Hazel Lyman. Dr. Lyman is ecstatic to be living where he loves to play. In his spare time, he plays the piano and enjoys spending time with his family while exploring San Juan County.
