Utah Navajo Health System Inc. has been ranked 14th among the nation's 25 fastest growing non-profit organizations.
According to the report on nonprofits from FindTheCompany, UNHS had total assets in 2014 of $32,636,077 with a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 18.9 percent.
The report explains that while just about every nonprofit begins as a small, local organization, many go on to become household names - like Kaiser Permanente, Doctors Without Borders and Teach for America.
With this in mind, FindTheCompany set out to find the biggest up-and-comers in the nonprofit space. They compiled data from thousands of Form 990s (the form that nonprofits must file with the Internal Revenue Service) to find the charities, organizations, school systems and health networks that are growing the fastest.
They started with all nonprofits that had at least $10 million in assets as of 2010. They then calculated the compound annual growth rate — or CAGR — over five years, from 2010 to 2014 (latest data available). None of the non-profits had identical CAGR ratings.
The survey's top non-profit organization is the Ole Miss Athletics Foundation with a CAGR of 35 percent and total assets in 2014 of $94,803,204. The top five include: 2. Eastern Los Angeles Regional Center for the Developmentally Disabled Inc. 3. Cherry Street Services Inc. 4. Idea Public Schools 5. City of Raleigh North Carolina Medical Benefits Trust.
